Who are these people and why the weird shovel? Friday, 12 May, at Veteran's Park in Ravenswood...it was made official. Ground has been broken for an amazing park reimagined. 75 years old...this City Park is going to get an amazing facelift and come full circle. Lighting, restroom, water fountain, fitness equipment, new tables, benches, wifi, playground, flowers, and trees. Electricians have started with underground conduit. Things will trickle in the next few weeks. However, in June expect to see things really fly. Front row L-R, Sean Simon of Pickering Associates--project manager, design and engineering team, RJ Walker of Phoenix Associates--general contractor, Mayor Josh Miller--advocate from day one and his daughter Paisley, she represents the children who will enjoy it, Superintendent Katrena Ramsey of BOPARC project coordinator/planner who is keeping the plates spinning, Councilwoman Dee Scritchfield who toured playgrounds in the tri state to help with planning and considerations to make this inclusive for all. Back row: Gary Cross of BOPARC and the Ravenswood Development Authority and Chris Skeens of the Historic Landmark Commission and the Ravenswood Development Authority showing their support.
