Trail Hike on the Kevin Clegg Trails

Introducing our hiking instructor! Rod McDonald will be in Ravenswood at the Major Kevin Clegg Trails at Eastwood each Thursday during May. Meet him a little before 6:30 pm for this wonderful opportunity.

Rod’s Biography

“Hello, my name is Rod McDonald and I’ll be the hiking instructor for Moving In May.

I’m a former Scoutmaster and was involved with the Boy Scouts from the time I was a Cubscout in 1971 until 2013. I attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1980 and later served as an Assistant Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, Webelos Leader and Scoutmaster. During that time I did a lot of hiking and backpacking. I’ve always had a love for the outdoors and here recently in the last couple years have fell in love with the Major Kevin Clegg Trails at Eastwood. I hike or trail run there usually 3-4 times a week and I’m a member of the Jackson County Ruck Club. We hike usually three times a week at different locations. Hiking is my solitude and is not only good for your physical health but also for your mental health.

One of my lifelong goals is to be a northbound thru hiker on the Appalachian Trail. My goal start date is March 2028.

I hope to meet some new friends each Thursday evening in May at 6:30. Come and give hiking a try!”
